M60 is upon us! Our 2011 screenings have finally arrived, this Friday and Saturday. All the information is on our screenings page. This year the festival will be held at the gorgeous, historic Rialto Theatre.

Tons of tickets will be available at the door, for just $8. Please arrive at 7:30 pm on screening nights.

M60 2011 Screenings

The Montreal 60 Second Film Festival presents CHANCE, Friday, September 16 and Saturday, September 17 at the Théâtre Rialto (5723 avenue du Parc) at 7:30 pm.
After years of sold-out screenings at La Sala Rossa and Cinéma du Parc, we are finally coming to Mile End’s magnificent movie palace – the Rialto, built in 1923. We look forward to showing M60 2011′s rollercoaster line-up of more than 70 original films on the theme of CHANCE (September 16 and 17 screenings are identical) in this gorgeous milieu, before a packed & cheering crowd.
Tickets are $8.

Mont-Royal: The Game

As part of our launch party, m60 commissioned local Montréal board game fanatic Ramsay Jackson to create a board game which would embrace our chosen theme for 2011 of Chance. He came up with a simple and fun a dice-rolling game we called Mont-Royal. The object of the game is for each player to get to more Mont-Royal landmarks than their opponents.

People who came to our launch party received a free copy in a hand-painted envelope, but we’re putting it up here for people to download, print and play for free.

Whew! A huge thanks to everyone who turned up to our 2011 launch and registration party (Casa del Popolo, July 13th 2011) and to our contributors that made the night a huge success : the bands (Ariel Engle and Wind-Up People), the improvisors (Mark Rowland, Etan Muskat and Dan Beirne), the volunteers, the raffle sponsors (Blue Skies Turn Black, Festival de films international Fantasia, Phonopolis, Restaurant Lawrence, Dépanneur Le Pick Up, Julie Lequin, Matt Forsythe, Lily Lanken, Elaine Ho and The BluRay Blog), the croupier (Al Weldon), the designer of our board game (Ramsay Jackson), and last but not least, the filmmakers and attendees.

M60 2011 (the 4th edition) is on its way. True to very successful form, we’ll start with a launch party at Casa del Popolo (4873 boul. St-Laurent) on Wednesday July 13th. This is where you filmmakers must register to make a sixty second masterpiece on the theme we’ll announce that night.
The M60 launch is always a good time, with door prizes, live entertainment, and many surprises… so come on down to meet the fun train, who knows what could happen?

Howdy M60′ers.. we want to thank all this year’s filmmakers and screening attendees, friends and families, supportive partners, coaches, elementary school teachers who truly believed in your creative capacities… This third edition of the annual Montreal 60 Second Film Festival was a smashing success, with a record number of films, a chance to see those submissions screened in a proper Cinéma, and rave reviews from public and press.
We want, of course, to encourage you to spread the word and invite people to participate in the fourth edition, M60 2011, launching with the expected blast next summer. They say species that live in isolation eventually can’t survive the harsh realities of the outside world, so let’s work through the cold, cold winter to continue to diversify our gene pool …quiet on the set… Action!

Blockbuster!

Friday night’s screening was terrific – we sold out Cinema du Parc’s largest room! Merci à tout le monde!

Lots of tickets will be available at the door for Friday and Saturday’s Sala Rossa screenings. But please come early as we could sell out. Tickets/doors open at 8pm.

If you’re at home with a TV, look out for Sean on Téléjournal tonight, around 18h30.
